![]() The Empire is the human faction in the game. The armies of men in the Old World are the frontline defenders against the chaos invaders from the north. They have a rudimentary form of magic taught to them by the High Elves after the first Great Chaos War. Schools have been set up in the Empire (each of them representing one of eight different orders) with each specializing in particular disciplines. For example the Jade Order is considered the Lore of Life that centers on studies of nature and living things. As a result, this magic gives Jade Wizards power over nature. Along with this primitive understanding of magic is a faith in their ancient god, Sigmar, a warrior god whom they worship devoutly. And Sigmar's clergy, the Warrior Priest, can channel divine power to use in battle. The Empire has found that its ingenuity and ability to adapt is its greatest weapon against a world filled with monstrous beasts and supernatural evils. The School of Engineers is responsible for some of the more creative guns and war machines, such as the Helblaster Volley Gun. Their steel armor and swords, combined with their black powder and advanced tactics, allow them to stand toe-to-toe with some of the nastiest things in the Warhammer world. |

OSTERMARK Ostermark lies in the northeastern area of the Empire near the Worlds Edge Mountains just south of Kislev. Troops from Ostermark are well experienced as they often are sent north to Kislev to assist in fighting off enemies from the north. The Worlds Edge Mountains that lies to the east also offers little comfort to the residents of the Ostermark Province. Generally not thought of as advanced as other areas of the Empire. The stout hard working people of Ostermark have continued to endure conflicts from the Green Horde and the Undead. |

NULN Known for the famous Imperial Gunnery School, this city-state is the biggest cannon foundry in the world. The school has produced some of the best gunnery and artillery captains that the Empire has ever seen. Even though it is common for Counts to train and maintain their own artillery crews, the best still come from the Imperial Gunnery School. Nuln is located at the very southern tip of the Great Forest, a central location to four Empire Provinces: Reikland, Stirland, Wissenland, and Averland. |

TALABECLAND At the heart of the Empire (and the Great Forest) lies the province of Talabecland. Much of Talabecland is rural as it is almost entirely made up of the Great Forest. Within Talabecland is the city-state Talabheim. Talabheim lies within a great crater, making it incredibly fortified. It is here that the Knights of the Blazing Sun built a shrine dedicated to a warrior goddess Myrmidia. Myrmidia is the patron goddess to the Knights of the Blazing sun, who were saved in battle when her statue was shaken loose in an earthquake and crushed their enemies. |
